Is this the best album ever released? possibly...... probably..... I think so
From December 2008, here’s a full recording of Zane Lowe’s Stone Roses Masterpieces special.
Zane played the Roses debut album in full, with interviews and music to set the scene for this great record. Features an extended interview with Mani.
Had this on in the car today for the first time in ages, reminded me what an excellent album it is, I first saw them supporting Carter USM probably at Portsmouth Guildhall 1992 and then at Brixton Acadamy, anyway have a listen if you've never heard this, it makes me smile every time I hear it.
I had the misfortune to watch part of some comedy awards this weekend, seriously unfunny to say the least, however lets get onto the real reason im here!!................Lauren Laverne presented an award, she presents the odd tv show and radio show on 6 music now but she was lead singer of kenickie and is rather funny, fantastic and very talented, Her band released 2 albums back in the 90's, "At The Club" and "Get In" were of their time, however here is far superior beast, released on local label slamp in 1995 was debut "Catsuit City" , an 8 track 7" mini album.... yes you read that right 7"....result........ if you only have own one kenickie record, this will probably do..........
With britpop long gone and fondly remembered i guess you can look at reunions like blur and pulp 2 ways..... a last ditch attempt to sweat the asserts or a chance to give the fans what they want? maybe its a combination of both but as im a fan its surely a win win situation!
As im going to the Isle of Wight Festival this year and specifically not moving until pulp have played here is there first release, and a ditty all about it too.... happy days
The first Pulp album, 1983's IT is slightly different from their later material. While many of lead crooner Jarvis Cocker's lyrical concerns are present--seedy sexual encounters, class distinctions, and the like--there are glimpses of hope and joy among the sordid details. This is most notable in "Love Love," a downright cheerful English music-hall number where Cocker proclaims, "I love love" against a sprightly backing track replete with trumpets.
Die-hard fans need not fear that this is a kinder, gentler version of Pulp, though. "Joking Aside" features Cocker intoning, "Yes, I'd like to turn you over, see what's on your other side, see if the problem's in my mind" in a manner reminiscent of Depeche Mode's Martin Gore at the latter's sleaziest. While the sound is not quite as musically dense and orchestral as it is on latter albums, a sense of claustrophobia dominates the proceedings in spite of the sparse instrumentation and airy production. "Blue Girls" is positively maudlin, with an understated flute and a female backing choir. Trivia buffs should note that Simon Hinkler, who left after this record to join The Mission (UK), is among the members of this early version of Pulp.
Miles Hunt was, as im sure you know the front man and mouth almighty of the wonder stuff, this was his first solo album released in 1999, its fantastic if you don't mind me saying and should be regarded as important as anything the wonder stuff released, today miles continues to tour and play solo gigs with fiddler erica knockalls, check out the bands website for future dates.

Exit Calm - four young men who have dedicated their lives to their music and the results are what people have been waiting for, This is the start of something truly beautiful, and at last we have a band to believe in.
Two years of committed touring has built up a dedicated and adoring following, mesmerised by the monumental, rousing sound of the South Yorkshire four piece. Coming from the Northern school of integrity and determination, their hard work ethic means they’re now reaping dues through their debut album, which is sure to be one of the debut's of the year, "Exit Calm", produced by Paddy Byrne (Unkle, The Hours) and renowned mixer and remixer, Ulrich Schnauss. The all-consuming intensity of this collection of 11 epic songs would scare most guitar bands to death. Its ambition and scope is breathtaking. They have huge textured atmospheric guitars, amazing grooves and an inspired and enigmatic singer who evokes a maelstrom of emotion from even the simplest melodies. While Elbow, Spiritualized, Massive Attack, DJ Shadow and in particular Doves are influences, these bands were only important in bringing the four musicians together. Exit Calm are on their own journey and the result is a band which sounds like no other. “We’ve never been part of any scene we just did it behind closed doors. We’re a guitar band poured into dance music,” says Simon. “We’re reclaiming euphoria from all the shit dance acts out there. Doves are as close to Northern Soul as you’re going to get these days and we relate more to them than any other band.”
The New Fast automatic daffodils were one of all time favourite's, Unfairly lumped in the madchester scene they were always different, exciting, and amazing especially live. Enjoy this Peel Session collection from 1991.

Found this little jem earlier, i fell in love with factory records, happy mondays and Tony Wilson around 1989, madchester and all that comes with it was some sort of mad mythical beast that took over every musical moment of my late teens and onwards..... some of the music was shit mind but hey, not everything in life can be perfect and the attitude was sometimes more important!
At the link you will find fuc51 a kind of anti madchester blog, i think its funny thats why im sharing it with you lovely people, im sure the writer probably wouldn't like to think of it as amusing but fuc him, everyone has there opinions i guess, his is wrong...
